Sanmu (山武市) is a city in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, established on March 27, 2006, through the merger of the towns of Sanbu, Matsuo, Narutō, and the village of Hasunuma. The city has a population of approximately 50,321 as of November 2020, covering an area of 146.38 square kilometers. Located in the northeastern part of the prefecture, Sanmu is part of the Tokyo metropolitan employment area. It is known for its flatlands, agriculture, and woodworking industries, and experiences a humid subtropical climate with warm summers and cool winters.
